Shorouk Bookstore hosts a book discussion on Orz bel Laban le Shakhsain (Rice Pudding for Two, or, by means of pun, for a Couple), a selected compilation of the very popular Hawadeet (Tales), an Egyptian blog by Rehab Bassam, also known as Hadduota—an alias she first used as a blogger.
The book purportedly sold well in the recent International Cairo Book Fair (CIBF), along with the other two collections in the same series, also by young female bloggers.
Rehab’s writings, which mixes short story with reflections and diary, received numerous positive reviews and comments both from bloggers and established mainstream writers. This is evident in the fact that the new series, Mudawwanat Al Shorouk (Al Shorouk Blog), is dedicated to the outstanding Arabic blogs.
The author will speak at the event, which will be moderated by her editor Hadil Ghoneim, and is expected to read excerpts from her book but she’s already signed copies at the CIBF.
Rehab’s writing, both fiction and nonfiction, is gripping, funny, full of echoes from a wide range of influences, but its depth and originality are not compromised.
